Heartlands 2006 - 2012

SFL worked on the £35 million Heartlands regeneration project in Cornwall for Kerrier District Council and Cornwall County Council.  We supplied a wide range of services to the Councils from the first development ideas, through design and development to the finished scheme. This is typical of our approach to site, exhibition and museum development.

£22.3 Million

We edited, designed and part wrote the funding bid to the Big Lottery Fund which raised £22.3 million in 2007. Heartlands was one of four schemes selected from a group of over 360 submissions.  It was the chosen scheme in England, there being one each in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Since opening in April 2012 it has had 240,000 visitors - meeting its first year business plan within nine months of opening.  SFL wrote the business plan for the scheme.

It provides a model for a resilient mix of cultural and commercial services for its locality and region. It is led by its heritage but uses that as a springboard for the future.

Design and Creative

We developed the creative frameworks and Briefs for the project working closely with the Client and the consultant team.  We then delivered the exhibition, signage systems, media and interactive exhibits.  We also developed the branding and web identity.  Stephen acted as part time Interim Director between 2008 and 2011.
