Stephen was Creative Director and Chief Executive for the Magna Science Adventure Centre project in South Yorkshire. Leading the teams that financed, developed, designed, delivered and operated it between 1998 and 2002. Stephen wrote the creative briefs and structure for the exhibitions, selected all the consultant team, wrote the business plan and led all the negotiations with the Millennium Commission.
Stephen was originally commissioned by the Stadium Group to secure the funding from the Millennium Commission after a rejection in 1998. He worked with David Waby, Andrew Shepherd and Claire Butler from Stadium and Ken Christian from architects RTKL to restructure the project and successfully win the backing which made the project possible.
Magna has won many awards including the Stirling Prize for Architecture. A £52 million Millenium Commission funded scheme.
