Inside the huge building. Steel works tend to be big and Magna had originally been over a mile long. An open hearth melting shop with 17 chimneys before and during the Second World war and a frequent target for the Luftwaffe. Converted to electric arc furnaces in the 1960's it was a melting and re-melting shop through to its closure in the 1990's. Run by Steel Peach and Tozer before nationalisation and referred to as 'Steelos' locally.
